How to Delete Your Data
You can delete your server-side data directly within the Dear Diary app. No need to contact us — the deletion is handled instantly from within the app.
- Open Dear Diary
- Go to Settings
- Open Privacy & Security
- Tap "Delete Account & Data"
- Confirm the deletion request
What Data Is Deleted
When you use the in-app deletion feature, the following server-side information associated with your device is permanently removed:
- Push notification tokens
- Notification preferences
- Timezone settings
- Pseudonymous device identifier records
- Related server-side records required for app functionality
What Data Is Not Stored on Our Servers
Dear Diary does not store the following on our servers:
- Journal entries
- Notes
- Mood logs
- Tags
- Other journal content
These items are stored exclusively on your device and are never transmitted to or held by our servers.
Deleting Local Journal Content
Because your journal content lives only on your device, you control it entirely. To remove it:
- Delete individual entries directly within the application, or
- Uninstall the application to remove all locally stored data
Processing Time
Deletion requests initiated through the app are processed as soon as reasonably possible.
Security, fraud prevention, operational, or legal logs may be retained for a limited period where required by applicable law or legitimate operational necessity.
